PROUST APP, DEALING WITH GRIEF THROUGH COOKING
I wanted to create and brand an app that helped people through depression, specifically overcoming grief. I felt that one of the ways I connected through my parents and grandparents was through their food, like my mum’s famous waffle berry pie, or my grandma’s chicken and mustard sauce. These smells, tastes, meals, make me think of them. Therefore, I created this this app I created called Proust, which I named after Marcel Proust, who described how eating a madeleine transported him back in memory to childhood. It teaches people how to cook meals they once beloved, and how to deal with grief.
POSTERS
For the advertisement of the brand, I chose to create poster graphics that could be posted on social media and/or put up in a physical setting. They feature a paper cut-out of the loved one cooking alongside their family/lover. This captures just what the app is about: cooking and overcoming the depression of grief. The posters were created within Photoshop.
The app would be designed with numerous features in mind. A place for storing past family favourite recipes and learning new ones. An AI chatbot that would be focused on checking in on the user, talking to them about their grief, and offering advice and tips about what to do to help and new trending recipes to try.
